Learning to play an instrument can be a fun and beneficial experience for children and adults alike. Making music can improve intellectual capacity, enhance social skills, alleviate stress, develop discipline and patience, boost self-esteem, and encourage creativity and expression. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician, our skilled, experienced instructors work one-on-one with each student, customizing lessons based on each individual’s skill level, interests, and needs.

We offer lessons in guitar, bass, and various other stringed instruments, piano, percussion, vocal performance, and much more.

Lesson Information and Rates

  • Lessons are typically 30, 45, or 60 minutes long, once per week

  • 30 minute lessons are recommended for beginners and longer lessons for more advanced students

  • Students are required to have their own instrument both for lessons and to practice at home

  • Instructors may require books to be purchased for lessons

Our Instructors


Brice Shelden

Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin

A graduate of Waynesville High School, Brice obtained his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Central Missouri in 2011. He has over 20 years of experience playing musical instruments. With a love of music, guitars and education, instructing has become something he's very passionate about.

Playing the guitar is an extremely personal experience and each of his lessons are catered to the individual student's needs. Finding your voice through the guitar is a journey that Brice is more than excited to guide you through.


Brenda Sutton


Brenda is a classically trained accomplished pianist and has been playing since she was a youngster.

Brenda specializes in working with new learners and beginning their musical journey. She is a theory based instructor and provides new learners with the foundational skills they need to enjoy music for a lifetime.

John Burch

Piano and Percussion

An experienced pianist and percussionist, John has been exploring the world of music for as long as he can remember. With a passion for teaching, he is prepared to pass down his insightful knowledge to aspiring musicians.

John specializes in pop/jazz piano as well as all drum-set styles. John is able and ready to accommodate learners of all ages and musical backgrounds. His focus on foundational theory and technique allows learners to find and start their musical journey quickly, as well as having a great experience along the way. John is ready to help get you started today and make your musical journey something that you can enjoy for years to come.


Deborah Liles

Piano, Vocals and Performance

Deborah is a professional Jazz, Blues and Adult Contemporary vocal artist, with performances and clients including The Greenbrier, The Broadmoor, Roanoke Jazz Orchestra, Hampton Jazz Festival, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, SRO Orchestra, Liles & Todd, Big Ray & The Kool Kats, The Homestead, Montanos Jazz Club, Laura Bush Staff, Mandarin Oriental, Hotel Roanoke, Star Theater, Flat Five Press & Recording, Ray Cadell Orchestra, Mill Mountain Theater, Bill Gates, Robert Duvall, Producer David Foster, Keith Howland lead guitarist Chicago, and numerous others, to include wineries, theaters and concert venues, studios, clubs and events. As musical director of The Singer’s Studio in Virginia and DC, she worked with all ages, styles and levels of singers, recorded and produced vocals, and events for students to perform. She also started a songwriting for singers division, starting with original compositions, all the way to producing the songs and releasing them to the public. Deborah has a BFA from VCU in Richmond, Virginia and some masters level jazz vocal training from NYU.
